The Clarkson University VPN (CUVPN) provides a secure connection between your remote computer and the campus network. In order to use CUVPN you must have a valid Active Directory account and password.

Windows

  1. Download the CUVPN installation file and then double click it to begin the installation process.
  2. At the completion of the installation, you will see a new icon in your desktop called OpenVPN GUI.
  3. For Windows Vista/7 Users, Right Click this icon and choose the “Run as Administrator” option. For XP users, just double click the icon.
  4. You should see a new icon on your task bar (next to clock). This icon looks like two red computers with a globe.
  5. Right-click on this icon and select "Connect."
  6. You will then be prompted for your Active Directory username and password.
  7. When the connection has completed successfully, you will notice that the task bar icon changes to two green computers with a globe.
  8. Point your web browser to http://isthevpnworking.clarkson.edu to test.

Mac OS X

  1. Download and install tunnelblick (http://code.google.com/p/tunnelblick/)
  2. Extract the contents of this archive file into ~/Library/Application Support/Tunnelblick/Configurations/ (you'll need to do this for each user who wants to use CUVPN). Make sure Clarkson.conf is in the folder above (not in a subfolder).
  3. Launch tunnelblick from your Applications folder. This will add a "tunnel" icon near the system clock.
  4. Click on the tunnelblick icon and select "Clarkson".
  5. When prompted for your AD username and password, enter them.
  6. Point your web browser to http://isthevpnworking.clarkson.edu to test.
