Incoming Students

If you are planning to use University phone service in your dorm room you must sign upby August 1st. A charge of $100 per semester per dorm room will show up on your student bill. If your roommate also signs up for dial tone service, both of you will be refunded $50. Signing up for telephone service will activate the phone line in your dorm room, allowing you to receive calls and make on-campus calls..

You will need to use your STC Trash/Services PIN or a calling card to make local and long distance calls. Detailed information on STC Trash/Services is available on the links at the right side of this page. If you would like to sign up for a PIN with STC Services, please contact the Service Center. You are not required to use STC Trash/Services and may choose to bring your own calling card to cover local and long distance charges.

If you do not sign up for University phone service, you will not have an active phone line in your dorm room when you arrive on campus. Hall phones are available on each floor of the dormitories. You will need a PIN or calling card to make local and long distance calls from the hall phones.

If you prefer, you can bring a cell phone. You should verify with your cell phone provider that they have sufficient coverage in the Potsdam region.

Do not delay. After August 1st, if you choose to sign up for telephone service you will need to contact the Service Center. and any late requests are subject to an additional charge.

Once you have signed up for phone service there will be no cancellation for that semester. Spring semester charges will be applied automatically to your Spring bill. If you choose to cancel Spring semester service, please contact the Service Center by November 1.
