Occasionally a computer causes enough of a disturbance on the network that it must be removed from the network.
This policy is designed to lay out the groundwork for removing a computer’s network access.
This policy applies to any OIT staff member.
Access to the Clarkson University computer network shall only be terminated for the following reasons: (i) violation of Clarkson’s Acceptable Use Policy or (ii) when a computer or network device is causing a problem on the network that directly adversely affects other users of the network. When either of these conditions is met, the network access shall be terminated in accordance with the procedures set forth in the Network Abuse Shutdown Procedure.
Network access shall never be terminated outside of regular business hours or on a weekend, unless condition (ii) is met.
Failure to follow this policy will result in the offender(s) being subject to disciplinary action up to and including a formal written letter of corrective action.
Regular business hours – Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
