Public Access Linux (AFS)

Campus constituents are granted access to a public access linux host (polaris) which is generally used as a conduit to AFS. AFS (Andrew File System) is a distributed networked file system which uses a set of trusted servers to present a homogeneous, location-transparent file name space to client workstations. AFS is accessed primarily through the campus Linux workstations and servers, but can be accessed from Windows clients too.
